cory kennedy for sebastian.

remember a million years ago when i was going to meet cory kennedy? well, here i am with goddess cory (have i ever looked shorter?).

my question for cory: how was working with sebastian different than working with urban decay?
cory's answer: "it was a lot different. um, this time i liked the product."

and what product is she referring to? why it's sebastian's whipped cream. cory appears in several ads this month showcasing how this versatile product can achieve several different textures of voluminous looks.

once fashion week finally ends i plan to give this supposed miracle whip a try!

brow wow wow: urban decay's brow box.

you've heard it before, groomed brows frame your eyes and make all the difference in the world.

urban decay's brow box makes it a little bit easier to get all the brow essentials in one (compact) place. there are four shades to chose from (based on your hair color), within that each box contains to colors of powder brow color, setting wax, an application for brush for the aforementioned, and - best of all - the tiniest, sharpest tweezers. i don't just use these little guys for touch-ups, these tweezers are so precise that i'm now using them for all my brow management.

shades include: beige betty, gingersnap (that's my shade!, pictured at left), brown sugar, and honey pot. $29. buy it/read about it/lust after it here.

march showers bring spring powders.

soon it's going to be spring (i just keep telling myself that...)! and in the spring i like to switch to powder to for my overall face coverage. it's lighter and it helps to absorb oil. for spring 2008 two new fabulous powders are on the market and i've been lucky enough to try both.

clinique's almost powder makeup spf 15 is a very lightweight formula. it comes with it's own sponge, but please use a powder brush to apply! available in 9 easily matchable shades ( i have neutral fair), with a large variety for fair skin tones - $22.50

urban decay's surreal skin universal mineral powder is buildable. you can quickly swipe around your face for light coverage or work it with a brush for a more thorough flawless look. great mineral glow in 8 shades (i have dream) for $29.00

plane jane beauty.

traveling makes it hard time to stay pretty. after spending several hours on a plane (and on supershuttle trying to get from the airport back to my apartment), i have some thoughts on the matter:

1. as everyone tells you, stay hydrated - meaning drink lots of water, but also, keep moisturized. i kept my face soft and hydrated by spraying my mineral fusion hydrating mist on it every couple hours.

2. my glamorous stewardess (i'm pretty sure i'm supposed to say flight attendant, but, oh well) looked amazing and added a little festivity to her look by wearing my beloved urban decay's glitter liner in baked, a bronzy gold. i haven't tried this shade yet, but i will now because it looked really terrific on her!

3. stay vitamin-ated! i like to drink at least one tomato juice per 3 hours on the plane in order to do this. it is also a good idea to take some probiotic vitamins to revitalize the body.

if anyone can figure out the flight rules about the liquids, let me know. i always seem to be getting called out for that. xo, beauties!

urban decay sets.

holidays mean gift sets. gift sets mean you get a ton of colors and product for less $$$. so who cares if you give these "gifts" to yourself? you're saving money, which is smart!

urban decay has some very nice (and economical!) gift sets that they recently released. while they are not specifically labeled holiday, they are a great gift, for you or a particularly hip friend.

lately i've been playing with the deluxe shadow box and the urban survival set. the deluxe shadow box has a fantastic selection of 9 vibrant shadow favorites, for $36. the urban survival set has everything you need you the morning after a slumber party: shadows and glosses and primers and liners (insert obvious, oh my!, here). they have tons of other gorgeous kits as well, that i have not yet gotten my hands on, of note is the thorny rose lip palette. see all the tidy urban decay collections here. and know that i have my eye on you, thorny rose.

urban decay glitter liners.

last week urban decay announced the addition of two new colors to their glitter liner collection - distortion (iridescent) and glam rock (silver).

i've tried out both colors and they are so much fun. obviously they are not for la office, but they are a great way to add a little shimmer to your night out with girls. they work better layered on top of an intense shade - either a bright or dark shadow or liner, that can help them stand out. to see color swatches of the new colors or order your favorite (mine is distortion) go here.

urban decay liquid liner.

i'm in love with these liquid liners. as in, i refuse to ever use any other liquid liner. liquid liner either makes you look flawless, sophisticated, put together and a little bit french (in a really good way), or it makes you look like a shaky-lined, gooey mess. luckily, urban decay does liquid liner right and helps makeup wearers to achieve the former.

the biggest crimes of liquid liners are a difficult to use application brush, an unworkable formula, or both. this product is guilty of neither and comes in the best color assortment to take you from a day in la office to a super glamorous night out. there are 12 colors, ranging from perversion (your basic inky black) to acid rain (metallic lime) - see all the wonderful colors here. i tried out honey (metallic gold), roach (warm brown), gash (deep red) and oil slick (black with a subtle shimmer to it). roach and oil slick to create a basic look, honey to dress it up for a night out, and gash as my more daring option.

the image above is from urban decay's matte eyeshadow campaign, but it also shows a great way to layer these liners for a fun, dramatic look. i've replicated this look, so i can tell you it is not only possible, but fairly easy! these liners have become another one of my fall staples, so expect to see some pictures of me wearing them over the next few weeks.

how do i love these liners? let me count the ways:
1. the colors are gor-ge-ous. and very original, no other line covers the practical and fantastical in liquid liner as well.

2. they are actually easy to use!

3. there packaging makes them look like little ink and quill pots. very lovable.

ps - what i would love: if they created a metallic ballet pink liquid liner, that is the only thing that could make this collection even better!
