it's official -- y'all loved blair's look at the van der woodsen/bass wedding (43% of you voted for her look, followed by 19% for that demonic georgina's smoky eye).

and now for the bonus question i chose to ask dr. klauer for my readers (a question clearly near and dear to my heart): if you were dealing with someone with very little willpower, is there any specific food to avoid or small habit to pick up that would maximize their weight loss?

and her response: cravings can and must be dealt with. it might interest you to know that they tend to occur at particular times of the day, unique of each person. so pay attention to your time clock and plan your snack. personally, i can almost set my watch by them, 3pm i must have a snack. the absolute worst thing that you can do during a craving is to have a sugary snack. sugar is rapidly digested, raises blood glucose, causing insulin release which stores glucose in a muscle cell or fat cell. then hunger returns. great snack: a piece of fresh fruit and a piece of cheese. or try a piece of chicken with spicy salsa. crudités with hummus or yogurt is another idea. each of these snacks is a source of protein and complex carbohydrates, which take longer to digest so you are satisfied for a longer time. take home: sugar makes you hungrier, protein is satisfying.

lancome's winning eye combination.

i've been trying a lot of different mascaras, but i keep coming back to lancome's newest, high définicils - $23.50. as long as i curl my lashes before applying (i've been using the billy b lash curler), this mascara is guaranteed to get me a compliment (something along the lines of "great lashes!" and who doesn't want to hear that?!). it is very lengthening and feathery.

but, no matter what mascara i use, i end up with huge raccoon eyes every evening when i wash my face. fighting these suckers off can be tough and ordinary makeup remover isn't delicate enough for the sensitive eye region. long story short? lancome's bi facil double action eye makeup remover is the only eye makeup remover i ever use. it's $26 and one bottles lasts months.

last tuesday i returned (with amber!) to lancome's upper westside boutique for an event to welcome their new beauty at every age expert, celebrity makeup artist sandy linter. linter has an incredibly impressive resume, including working on supermodel gia back in the late 1970s. she continues to be a powerhouse artist, so the pairing between her and lancome should be a great one. i look forward to seeing what comes out of it!

my 2008 skincare fixation continues. lancome's bienfait multi-vital night cream is the new la mer for the 20-something set. this cream is rich but absorbs beautifully with a similar light, heavenly scent, and a very reasonable price tag ($46). i see a cult following in it's future. i've been using it nightly in preparation for nyc fashion week (which starts this friday, so expect to see more on that in the very near future). the boyfriend loves the way my face smells, and i love the way it looks. we all win!

i love l.u.c.i.!

gucci westman's final collection for lancome, l.u.c.i. which stands for luminous colorless color intelligence (yeah, i don't understand what the "u" is about either), is currently available on the lancome site.
i'm most intrigued by the ombres glacée cooling gel illuminator for eye and face, available in chameleon (a soft candy pink) and morning pearl (a cooler-toned pink). the products all have an iridescent sheen, reminiscent of the inner side of a seashell. in fact, the whole line makes me think of a day at the beach, except for the futuristic packaging. see it all here.

this past week lancôme announced that anne hathaway would be their new brand ambassador.

lancôme international president, odile roujol says of the actress, "anne hathaway is a radiant young woman who perfectly embodies modern femininity. we know she will portray all the passion and excitement of our new fragrance, to be launched throughout the world in september 2008." no word yet on what sort of scent the new fragrance will be.

i like anne hathaway for keeping it classy and keeping her crotch to herself, but she's never really struck me as glamorous, or as a beauty icon. what do you think of lancome's choice?

the details of the final lipstick in the wildly popular lancome pout-a-porter series have been decided on. pixel pink, based on the look gucci westman created for thakoon's spring 2008 show, is a glossy berry pink.

part of lancome's color fever shine line aka "baby's first lipstick" it has a smooth, ultra-glossy formula that glides right on the lips. the color is much more natural and earthy pink than proenza pink, which is sure to be a match for a wider range of skin tones.
