time-saving tips for hardworking women.

Life as a professional woman is a balancing act - there is only so much time in the day and you want to look and feel good without spending hours in front of the mirror. Most women's beauty regimes involve tried and trusted methods, but there are some newer ways to ensure you get a perfect fresh-faced work look in less time.

The key for a great work look is to focus on three key areas: eyes, lips and cheeks. Over-application is to be avoided, and will only serve to highlight areas that have been left underdressed. Start with identifying which of the three areas you want to be the focus of your look, and leave the other two in softer shades - dark eyes and dark lips can take time and effort to get right. With your foundation, choose a tone and texture to match your skin so that you only need to use it on problems areas and don't have to spend time applying it ear-to-ear. Oil-free liquid foundations are a good place to start, or you could try a tinted moisturiser for a lighter cover and softer skin.

Don't go overboard on mascara - most ladies don't need as much as they think - and look to stains and glosses for a quick luscious lips look. With an easy-to-apply foundation, eyeshadow, eye concealer, blush, mascara and lip gloss you should be set for the day. However, working women can be more prone to collecting grime and dirt in the pores during a busy day, so cleaning it all away is vital for healthy skin. All-in-one wipes are a great time saver here but don’t skimp on price.

Of course, you can make more room for your beauty regime by planning ahead and giving yourself more time in the day. OK, this is not as easy as it sounds, but just 15-30 minutes can make a big difference. Shopping online for cosmetics with a chemist such as LloydsPharmacy is a good place to start, as you can combine this with your other shopping needs such as ordering prescriptions and other toiletries without having to battle the crowds in your local store. And if you're in need of pampering, look for services that will come to your workplace and give you a lunchtime lift.

If you spend a lot of time commuting on a boring train, you might even want to consider moving part or all of your beauty regime on the road. Research from the UK reveals that two-thirds of professional women now apply make-up on their morning journey to work. The days of the train touch-up being taboo are clearly over!
