beauties, you may remember that when i had red hair that went through so many boxes of clairol i should've invested in the company. in the past year i've gone back to my natural shade, a cool medium brown. some days i'm wistful for my redhead days, but not the maintenance it required. since i wanted to brighten up a bit, i decided to add some red tones back with clairol color blend foam.
in order to get my desired look i met with marie robinson, owner of my marie robinson salon. i told marie i wanted to brighten my shade for spring, without straying too far from my natural hue. marie's main tip for anyone looking to do this: " It may surprise you, but if you’re in search of a slightly lighter hair color shade – stick to the shade you’re at. For Marina, the reds and gold tones in the medium reddish brown color reflect a lighter overall appearance." she choose Color Blend Foam in 5RB, medium reddish brown for me, since my original hair color is already a level "5".
do you like?! i love. color blend foam is less than $10 a box at mass retailers.
· marie’s other tips for at home color:
o when applying all-over hair color, focus on your hair cut first and then massage into your roots for even, gorgeous color results. for me, marie started on my layers, then worked the rest of my hair.
o spring trends include a soft hair color with an all-over glow including butterscotch and rose gold blondes as well as velvety, buttery brunettes. marie colored models hair with these gorgeous shades for SS ’12 new york fashion week at the catherine malandrino and naeem khan shows.
· color blend foam tips:
o it's easy to apply with your fingertips for maximum control.
o foam formulas provide women with more product to work with, making it easy to spread and cover every strand.
o Foam formulas are no-drip, mess-free.
· hair color maintenance tips:
o make sure to take advantage of the deep conditioner that comes in the hair color box as it helps to add shine while conditioning your hair.
o keep heat styling to a minimum. this can be a tricky one, so at least apply a protective serum to your hair before exposing to heat.
o with spring and summer right around the corner, reduce exposure to the sun and chlorinated water during the warmer months as these elements quickly strip hair of its natural oils.
