new: obagi nu-derm sun shield spf 50.

beauties, this is no time to play coy with sun protection. it is too damn hot out! i'm at the point where i go from solid to liquid.

which is why one must turn to the experts. obagi is a legit dermatology brand, and their newest product, nu-derm sun shield spf 50 is a necessity in this heat, especially if you are going to hit the beach, because sun damage is so not cute.

uva/uvb protection, matte finish, para-free and fragrance-free. retailing at the derm's office.

review x2: neulash.

girls, my neulashes are killin' it.

when i originally wrote about the product (see here) i was lukewarm - my lashes were growing, but it was slow going, and i had noticed some lid irritation. however, after four months of semi-consistent use, i'm a convert.

yes, it took a while, and my lids get a little bit red after applying, but friends and strangers alike keep complimenting my lashes - some even insist i must have extensions! this is the best sort of attention i could be getting -- and i owe it all to neulash.

i even took their summer challenge to wear no eye makeup - just neulash - from summer solstice til fall equinox. while i break the vow to test new products (a b*tch has a to blog, right?), my lashes alone are as fly as it gets.

i love you, neulash. $85 for 60 days of lash-delight at neulash.com.

neulash, i love you.

summer trend: blue nails.

this picture is from friday nite, when me and my friend emily noticed we had similar nail shades.

since the tempatures have skyrocketed, i've been noticing women all over the city with blue nails. this summer's blues take their influence from the serene - think lakes and sky. the shades are clean - no glitter and no metallic overtones - and bright - somewhere between a pastel and a neon.

the lighter shade: revlon top speed in cloud - approximately $4.99.
the darker shade: essie lapis of luxury - $8.

new: MAC semi precious.

mac's latest release - semi precious is made from ethically mined minerals in brazil. the collection is massive -- it's broken into to sub-collections of colour, eyes, and skin -- and includes foundations, skin finishes, eyeshadows, lipsticks, lipglasses and more.

of all the hyperpigmented delights, the 12 eyeshadow shades are the stars. before even touching them, i'm inexplicably drawn to the colors and how they glisten in all of their marbled glory (i love a MAC marbled shadow - it's always a good thing). as pretty as they look in their pans, the shadows are even easier to love once on the eye. the rich color has so much soft sheen to it that even the more exotic colors blend easily with a wide range of skin tones. my absolute favorite - clarity - is a melange of pinks and greens - that applies as a beautiful deep green. $20 a shadow at MAC counters and maccosmetics.com.

eye the whole collection at maccosmetics.com.

axe crew cut buzzed look cream with spf 15.

man in residence, ariel / untrained dude of untrainedeats.com, tries out the latest from axe. here's what he has to say:

"axe crew cut buzzed look cream with spf 15 has a great, summery smell that i know girls will go for. the product itself goes on smooth and doesn't feel greasy or tacky like other pomade hair products, and i've used a lot of hair products in my day. since this product is designed for guys with short hair, it's really creative that they decided to include sunscreen in the formula, because us guys don't normally remember to worry about sunscreen. even though the fact that it has sunscreen makes me think it was designed for fair skinned dudes, it really worked on this tan gentleman's dome, too."

retailing for approximately $7-10 at retailers nationwide. and considering it's for short hair, a little bit will go a long way.

review: maybelline eye studio master drama eyeliner.

i tend to firmly believe that eyeliner should be a splurge - go designer or go home. maybelline eye studio master drama eyeliner has me expanding my horizons.

my past experience has shown me that cheap liners run, don't last all day, or don't give the desired color payout (the blacks were never black enough). but this liner is the opposite of those things! it stays in place, lasts all day (12+ hours!) and the midnight master is black as night. also available in vibrant violet, made of steel, coal commander, bold brown, and sapphire strength.

note: the dial-up pencil applicator which this liner features is the only way i do cream liners - otherwise it's just mess.

$6.99 at mass retailers nationwide.

new: caress fine fragrance elixir body wash.

caress is turning the corner drugstore into a fragrance boutique with intensely scented, sultry body washes -- for under $4(!).

the caress fine fragrance elixir body washes come in two sensual scents - sheer twilight (black orchid with juniper oil) and scarlet blossom (red lychee and patchouli oil). the scents are so strong that they provide aromatherapy in the shower, then linger as a hint of their former self on the skin for the rest of the day. i see these body washes as the perfect prep for a beach party involving a bonfire.

12 ounce bottles retail for $3.50, 18 ounces for $3.99 at mass retails nationwide.

new: hourglass film noir lash lacquer.

i'm obsessed with lashes, the more unrealistic looking the better.

hourglass has just released film noir lash lacquer, which offers a novel twist to the already burgeoning eye lash market - something that makes lashes appear blacker, wetter, and shinier... which ultimately can turn lashes with mascara into lashes so dramatic, they look fake. if applying false lashes gives you palpitations, this fool proof method is for you.

i wore it out saturday, and i think i'm in love.

apply it after your mascara dries, and take your lashes to the next level - $28, sephora.com and sephora store exclusive.

new: bobbi brown tortoise shell collection.

bobbi brown's new tortoise shell collection essentializes how one ends up with a crush on a girl who wears glasses.

as bobbi herself says, "like a great pair of glasses, the tortoise shell collection is about standout eyes." the star products in the line are two eye palettes ($60 a piece) - sand tortoise shell and bronze tortoise shell - each with 8 shadows (4 new shades in each). i can't stop looking at the bronze palette - it includes a shade called olive sparkle eyeshadow. i think i need this beacuse nobody does sparkle shadow better than bobbi.

also in the line: tortoise shell mini brush set ($55), rich lip color spf 12 (in soft nude or twig, $22) or high shimmer lip gloss (in bare sparkle, beach or citrus, $22). i have the bare sparkle - and while the shade may be bare, the sparkle is anything but -- this gloss is high shimmer to the max.
