eve salon offers pumpkin enzyme facial and pumpkin pedicure this fall.

eve salon, on west 8th street in nyc, has a relaxed, non-stuffy vibe which makes it a comfortable place to get quality treatments, but what i absolutely love about it is there seasonal treatments. you may recall that i visited them over the summer for a rainforest mani/pedi.

now that it's fall, pumpkins are everywhere. from starbuck's pumpkin latte (which i overhead one customer saying tastes like nail polish remover) to pumpkin patches, and now -- thanks to eve salon --there's pumpkin pedicures and pumpkin enzyme facials. having indulged in both a pumpkin treatments -- it would be hard to say which i enjoyed more (both were far better than drinking nail polish remover).

the pumpkin enzyme facial was a deeply exfoliating -- the microderm layer of the treatment has left my skin at it's softest and freshest, and the light pumpkin scent of the mask gave me nostalgic for halloweens past, without making me feel like my face was drowning in a pumpkin pie. 60 minutes, $140.

the pumpkin pedicure had all the relaxing elements of the traditional eve salon pedicure, plus a signature spiked spiced cider (yes! it was delicious) and a pumpkin glow scrub + warming pumpkin masque for legs and feet. again, it was just enough pumpkin to leave you feeling autumnal, not nauseated. 60 minutes, $45.

visit eveswebsite.com, or call them at 212.807.8054. to book your pumpkin treatments.

three custom color specialists on urbanoutfitters.com!

my favorite niche makeup brand is going to reaching a broader audience.

three custom color specialists new eye holiday eye shadow, party all the time, is being offered through urbanoutfitters.com ($22.50).

this wet/dry eye shadow is a warm brown that is chalked full of gritted up glitter -- perfect for a brown smoky eye. the color was created by makeup artist, marisa fazzina, who adores a glamorous look. she says of the shade, "i know, and you can ask other makeup artists out there, it's almost impossible to find a brown eye shadow with the right mix of added sparkle...and, of course, i know i had to call it party all the time."

salon aks: event hair + mani!

pictured: me at cocktails and couture with shannon from a girl's gotta spa, who also had her styled at salon aks. photo courtesy of shannon.

on saturday i visited salon aks for hairstyling + a manicure to prep for the cocktails and couture, a fashion week party hosted at the ted gibson salon by real housewife of d.c. mary amons and celebrity colorist jason backe.

i wanted my hair to look "fun", and my new favorite human, jonn rhamani. i was in a particularly flexible mood and told jonn to just do whatever he wanted - and voila! he chose this gorgeous curly, semi-faux-hawk, rihanna-esque style. bonus: jonn was super funny and easy to talk to for the 1hr + that my hair entailed.

as for my nails, i was in a much less leninent mood with galina --- i insisted on a french manicure with black, rather than white tips. while galina, didn't seem to think much of this idea, she complied. galina, by the way, is the most in-demand manicurist in the joint (3 people asked for her while she working on my nails!), who is also like your eastern european grandmother - clucking her approval and disapproval without censor, but my nails came out exactly as requested.

ps - for those ogling my lashes, their faux (naturally). they were the easiest lashes i've ever put on, and the brand makes dozens of wearable styles - retailing at just $9 a pair! hit reeserobertbeauty.com to stock up.

fashion week: backstage at nicole miller for spring 2011.

backstage at nicole miller's spring/summer 2011 show was filled with dyi tips, thanks to the expert hands of makeup artist james kaliardos (MAC cosmetics) and hair stylist kevin ryan.

kaliardos enigmatically described the makeup as "catherine deneuve from umbrellas of cherbourg, except not 60s." ok. the look was punctuated by a beautiful silvery eye with a rich grey blended into the crease (using MAC's luna cream colour base and forgery eye shadow). kaliardos take-home tip? rather than using liner apply mascara at the roots of the outer corner of each eye for a softer, liner-y look.

hair was in a "effortless updo" - so effortless that kevin ryan was using forceps on the models at one point - marked by tying the hair in a series of knots and setting it with safety pins. as ryan quipped, "a lot of updos are held up by prayer, this one is held by pins and elastics." ryan's other favorite tricks? hairspray on the brush and oribe dry texturizing spray - his new favorite product.

and there's ms. miller herself through the front door - 1.5 hours before the start of the show and still needing to get her makeup done! welcome back, fashion week!

fashion's night out 2010: marchesa for le metier de beaute.

my personal favorite fashion's night out beauty sighting is the premier of le metier de beaute's collaboration with designer, marchesa. i've been playing with some re-release samples and the colors are easy to use and universally flattering.

the collaboration resulting in marchesa for le metier de beaute is marked by a dedication to design, detail and experience, bringing women back to a time when "craft of the craft" was valued.

“each season,” explains georgina chapman, co-founder and designer of marchesa, “keren craig and i introduce a new collection, but with the classic and consistent signature that is marchesa – we transport our customers back to a time when luxury fashion meant the best in tailoring, design, fabric, etc. when it came to launching a cosmetics collection, we wanted to do the same and we found immediately that le métier de beauté shared these same core values.”

marchesa for le metier de beaute will be available exclusively at bergdorf goodman and neiman marcus beginning this friday, 9/10/10, and mLm predicts it will sell out that night!
