review of dyanna body and nail spa: home of the caviar facial.

dyanna spa, in nyc's flatiron neighborhood, put their name on the map by winning multiple awards for their hair removal and nail services - but one cannot help but be curious about their facial services, which include such opulent offerings as the caviar facial, diamond microdermabrasion, and the 24k gold mask facial.

wanting to get my queen of russia on, i decided to go for the caviar facial - designed to increase youthful glow. despite it's gimmicky name, this was mostly a no-nonsense traditional facial with thorough extractions, topped with a very moisturizing (with no fishy odor, a concern of mine) caviar treatment. my sweet, but firm, facialist alla left me with no black or white head uncovered, and a healthy radiance for days to come. for $85 this facial is a steal. visit them at dyannaspa.com.

new from MAC: fabulous felines.

MAC's fabulous felines collection will hit shelves later this week - on 08/26/10. the collection is separated into three distinct lines - burmese beauty (inspired by the burmese breed), palace pedigree (inspired by the russian blue) and leopard luxe (inspired by the ginger ocicat).

the standouts of this colletion are the array of vampy and frosty lip colors, camouflage -esque pigment shades, and metallic liquid liners. i've sampled a few pieces from the various lines and early favorites include pet me mineralize blush (light yellow pink with soft pearl); $21 and desires and devices superslick liquid eye liner (sparkling dark green); $17.50.

to see the entire collection visit MAC counters or maccosmetics.com this thursday. i'll be there scooping up more shades of superslick liquid eye liner.

vaseline DIY project!

i recently attended a unilever, parent company for vaseline (among dozens of other brands), event. what's new with vaseline? one would assume not much, since vaseline is one of those iconic products with a formula from the days of yore (noxzema and coppertone also come to mind in this catagory), but the brand surprised me. they had set up a station where makeup artitss were mixing pigment into little pots of vaseline to create high shine/high gloss color that changed my (fall makeup) world.

after seeing tangerine lips in multiple september issues i had them mix my vaseline with an orange pigment. the result? it's my new bring-it-everywhere item. i use it on my lips and my cheeks, because now glows like vaseline sheen.

the best part? it's so easy to diy/replicate this: if you have any loose powder (mineral or otherwise) eye shadows or blushes at home stir your favorite color into some vaseline to create a new glossy finish to apply to eyelids, cheekbones, or lips. my next project is going to be mixed lavender eyeshadow with vaseline, to create a cream finish light purple shadow.

have fun, beauties!

new from dove: go fresh revive body wash in pomegranate & lemon verbena scent.

what i love about a good mass retail body wash is it feels like such a steal - sometimes i pay 5X as much for a great body wash.

dove go fresh revive body wash in pomegranate & verbena scent has cheery, energizing fragrance that steers clear of the "cloying" territory. the nutrium moisture is so hydrating that the porduct looks and feels almost lotion-like when you squeeze it out of the bottle. my favorite off label use for it is as shave gel (i think it works better than other products that are, in fact, shave gel), and i don't feel bad about using it in such vast quantities because a bottle typically costs under $6!

available at mass retailers nationwide.

new from shobha: additions to their aftercare and beauty lines.

shobha threading - home to anjali, the only woman who i let touch my brows (click here to read my rave review of her) - is now expanding the product side of their hair removal empire.

i've long been a fan of their exfoliating cloth and ingrown relief lotion, and now shobha is adding products to their beauty and aftercare product lines. what are the must-haves? the rosewater scented products are to die for - shobha rosewater freshening cloths, shobha rosewater calming gel, and shobha rosewater toner mist. real rose oil is a key ingredient in all three - and the scent is hypnotizing - conjuring images of a summer spent on a colorful middle eastern adventure.

the freshening cloths ($9) are great for face, underarms, bikini area - any area that can use refreshing, especially on a hot summer day. the calming gel ($18) i now always apply immediately after any at home hair removal and the toner mist is just a little pick-me up when your skin is looking dull (and did i mention it smells great?) ($15).

all products are available at the three shobha nyc locations and myshobha.com.

new from boscia: luminizing black mask.

people are buzzing about the boscia luminizing black mask - on blogs, on the main page of the sephora site - this new mask is being talked about.

last nite i slathered my face in it to see what the chatter is all about. while im a little wary of peel-off masks (i don't think tugging on my skin is a great idea for my future wrinkle potential), this is the first time ive ever been able to remove the gunk out from my blackheads at home (including numerous trials of biore strips -- maybe i was doing it wrong?). i've never seen my skin look so instantly, for lack of a better word, cleaned-up.

the deets? filled with calcium montmorillonite clay, maritime pine bark extract, vitamin C, witch hazel, rosemary life extract and eucalytus extract - it takes a natural approach to dousing skin in antiseptic, toner, exfoliator and antioxidants. this impurity fighter is going to be my newest once a week ritual.

$34 a tube at sephora, sephora.com and bosciaskincare.com.

new from dior: diorshow maximizer.

diorshow maximizer is the latest addition to the burgeoning diorshow line, a lash primer + conditioner.

normally i shun lash primers (doesn't it seem like just a way to make you put on more mascara so that you can cover up the bright white you've just coated our lashes in? of course your lashes end up looking more dramatic -- you've just used 4 coats of mascara!) but what i'm loving about diorshow maximizer is that it's also a lash conditioner.

since i've started using it (about a week ago), i've noticed that when i wash off my mascara my lashes are more glossy -- a major plus. the brand recommends using it both as a primer and before going to sleep as a treatment for your lashes. clinical studies have shown an increase in lash volume, length and curvature overtime -- i say, white lashes up - here's hopin'!

$28, currently available exclusively at sephora and sephora.com.

my second visit to marie nails - tie dyed calgels.

this past weekend i had my second visit with sayo at marie nails.

so far, i'm a huge fan of both sayo and marie nails. my last set of calgels showed no signs of wear or tear after 2.5 weeks (no peeling or chipping), and my new tie-dye inspired nails (a la lindsay lohan in court style, minus the f *** u detailing) came out exactly as i wanted (see below).

$55, marienails.com.

perfect fall lip: clinique's different lipstick.

august has me thinking about fall makeup (sad, i know). judging by many photo spreads and fashion shows, fall 2010 will be characterized by minimal eye and cheek and a bold, popping, statement lip.

already on the prowl for the perfect collection of intriguing lip shades, i spotted clinique's different lipstick. different lipstick comes in a rainbow of standout shades from ripe raisin (a luminescent burnt orange) to glazed berry (punchy pink with soft luminescence) all in a very glossy, creamy formula.

this is the perfect lipstick if you are looking for a statement lipstick that is still easy to wear. i'm stocking up on these - i already have 3 shades ( ripe raisin, ripe berry and shy) and i'm thinking i'll need a few more more come fall.

$14 at clinique.com and clinique counters.
