new: lush's glorious mud!

lately, i'm so into all things lush that they even have me loving mud.

their new glorious mud comes in a solid cube form - made from rhassoul mud (from the atlas mountains), aloe vera, vanilla, and sesame oil. it ends up smelling and looking a lot like brown sugar. while it's certainly not the most attractive thing in my shower, it's my current favorite.

$5.95 for a 4.4 ounce cube - ive been using mine on my entire body every other day for a week now and i still have at least 3/4 of the cube left. get dirty at lush.com.

review of nyc's new calgel nail hot spot - marie nails.

after seeing this picture on my friend heather's blog (who is an insatiable calgel addict), i decided to check out nyc's newest calgel spot - marie nails - before heading to my best friend's wedding this past weekend. i wanted something extra special for her big day.

i wanted the same nails as the sample - except with a lilac base and with only one flower per nail. sayo, my nail tech, gave me exactly what i wanted, even if my pictures don't do it justice. i'll be hitting marie nails again in the next few weeks.

the numbers: time: 1.5 hours $: 75 +tip address: marie nails, 155 prince street digits: 646.370.4170.

sprayology - spray it, don't say it.

i've been into mythology, anthropology and astrology, and now i'm into sprayology.

as i'm sure your mother has already told you, getting your vitamins is key to any beauty regimen. sprayology offers vitamins and homeopathic remedies that you spray under your tongue (or sublingually, to speak medical-ese about it), and because of all the blood vessels concentrated in that area, the vitamins get in your system within minutes. i'm hooked on the daily multi and the stress relief - they've totally upped my energy level in my weeks of use.

starting spraying at www.sprayology.com. sprays cost an average of $24.

the making of a perfume: a case study of coach poppy.

a new fragrance begins not with a scent in mind, but an image of the girl who will wear that scent.

in the case of coach's new fragrance, poppy, the brand was looking for a scent with a younger, whimsical twist while maintaining the iconic coach feel. words like "witty" and "fun" as inspiration for the scent. for me, it conjures a pretty young girl heading off to college in new england.

the top notes are cucumber flower petals, juicy mandarin and baby freesia buds; middle note of pink waterlily, jasmine and candied rose petals in a creme brulee accord round out the scent; and it finishes with hints of cedar, bleached sandalwood and whipped marshmallows.

considered a fruity floral the scent is distinctly girly and sexy. and while i enjoy the smell (it has many of the qualities of my beloved stella by stella mccartney), it's not quite for me, perhaps because i'm not the girl coach was envisioning in creating coach poppy.

coach poppy launched earlier this month and is available at coach stores, coach.com, and fine retailers nationwide. $60 for the 1.7 oz bottle.

new from new york color: blushable creme stick.

new york color has me crushing on a mass retail blush, and i'm not that kind of girl. i believe that blush is something you spend money on, so you can glow and captive a room. the new york color blushable creme stick ($3.99!) has me rethinking all that.

it comes in a shade range to rival the blush queen, nars - available in plaza pink, big apple blush, urban spice, south street, seashell, mauvin' uptown and berry new yorker. all of the colors provide a bright pop of color without getting garrish. the formula is a smooth creme that dries to a silky powder finish.

my personal favorite is big apple blush - the perfect marriage of flirty and serious pink - i've been carrying it everywhere. and carry i must, because the one thing to note? bargain blush has less staying power, so be sure to slip the tube in your purse for reapplication as needed.
