clinique all about eyes serum depuffing eye massage review.

clinique is really trying to make me fall in love with them with all their great releases of late, or perhaps now that i've entered my late 20s i'm beginning to see the value in their high quality skincare line. goodbye, youthful skin!

i love anything on a roller ball - and since fall 2009 various companies have been playing with the idea of a roller ball for the eye area (in september i featured the olay regenerist roller ball). after trying 3 different eye rollers, clinique's does the best job of depuffing - and at $25.50 it's ringing in at only a couple dollars more than those sold on drugstore shelves.

available now at clinique counters and clinique.com.

the bare body collection by martha's closet.

if you're following me on twitter - you probably already know i'm going to barcelona on sunday (and if you aren't following me on twitter - get on the @makeuplovesme bandwagon, kthanksbye).

each time i travel the selection of which mini-bottles to bring is a central issue. the FDA-approved toiletry set i've selected for this trip hails from my new favorite niche brand, bare body by martha's closet. bare body is full of heady, original scents - like eucalyptus spearmint, bay rum (my favorite!), and coconut lime verbana - all of which come out smelling natural and non-cloying.

the bare and bare-fly customlizable ultra mini purse pack usually runs you $66, but right now the site is having a sale where everything is 50% off. so stock up at marthasclosetonline.com, beauties.

PS - martha's closet was also featured in wwd today - check it out!

mascara face-off: givenchy phenomen'eyes vs l'oreal's telescopic explosion review.

it's not everyday i find drugstore beauty product and a high end cosmetic that look as much alike as l'oreal's telescopic explosion mascara (pictured below) and givenchy's phenomen'eyes (at left).

both wands consist of a spiky rubber koosh ball that gets coated in product while in the tube, that you attack little sections of lashes with, for a very thorough effect.

on the whole, i'm a fan of both because i love dramatic lashes, but the l'oreal version retails for around $7.99, and phenomen'eyes sells at sephora for $29. where's the $20+ difference? in the formula. the givenchy formula is significantly less thick - yielding a less clumpy finished effect.

also, look out for the latest version of phenomen'eyes - phenomen'eyes waterproof - which will be on counters starting in may 2010.

rimmel celebrates it's 10 year anniversary in the US.

video

in honor of their 10 year anniversary in the US market rimmel - famous for the london look - found 10 american girls to showcase their latest products -- highlights include lash maxxx mascara and sun shimmer maxi bronzer (which is chock full of shimmer).

the"rimmel 10 girls" are all in their teens and early twenties and most of them are into the arts and performing. watching them experiment with makeup - and finding the words to express their experiences is truly a treat. check them out here.

natalie, 18, from seattle is my absolute favorite. i can't get enough of this video - it reminds me of how my 18 year old self would've vlogged, if that had been possible then. enjoy, beauties!

laszlo blue firmarine treatment bar.

we've only been together about a week, but already it's complicated with erno laszlo blue firmarine treatment bar and myself.

i adore it's soft marine scent and it's gentle, non-drying cleanse, but why did erno laszlo choose to make this facial cleanser in bar soap form? it's impossible to pick up and now that it's gotten wet it's cemented itself to the rim of my tub! still, i will continue to attempt to use it because it seems to agree with my face.

$39 for a sizable bar (5 oz) at ernolaszlo.com.

spa week is here!

it's the most wonderful time of the year. spa week is upon us!

from march 12-18 spas all over nyc - and throughout the US - are offering some of their signature services for only $50. over the years i've tried out services that typically cost upwards of $150 for only$50 because of the magic of spa week. most appointments are booked up -- but check out their website to see if you can still get a last minute appointment!

something new for this year is that dove is the official sponsor of spa week, to help raise awareness of their newest product - light radiance antiperspirant. dove is my favorite deodorant maker, so i encourage you to check that out as well.

mara sings the body electrics.

mara's in love with these nail lacquers...read what she has to say:

illamasqua is normally a brand i shy away from, but their new spring/summer collection, body electrics (going live on their website tomorrow) has some simply amazing products.

new gleam cream ($36, limited edition) is a lightweight cream with pearlescent pigments that is suitable for both face and body. use this under liquid foundation and get an ethereal glow that makes you look like you just walked off the set of twilight. pair it with pure pigment in static (white with violet flecks, $24), on brows, eyes, or cheeks, and the ghostly glamor is unstoppable! these products are both especially great on pale skin (which i appreciate!). the collection will be available at select sephora stores and on sephora.com starting in may.

but i've saved the best for last. illamasqua's four must-have-for-spring pastel nail polishes: blow (pale yellow), wink (lavender), nudge (tiffany blue), and caress (cornflower blue). i can't stop talking about how amazing these colors are, and on the nail they are very true to the color you see in the bottle. all four are flirty and fun, and could also be a great base for creative nail art. they will be coming to sephora in may, but if you're like me and just can't wait til then, they can be purchased across the pond at illamasqua.com for (pound sign)13 each, or a set of four for (pound sign)39.

i try to drink myself pretty, again - noah's naturals anti-aging beauty drink.

last time i tried a beauty drink i couldn't even complete my one week trial because of the bitter taste it left in my mouth (reminisce here), but trying noah's naturals anti-aging beauty elixir inspires me to give this category another chance.

each $19.99 box contains 14 packets (there is also a $29.99 option which yields 30) to be mixed with a tall glass of water (think crystal light style). the mix is a cocktail of anti-oxidants, including collactive, acai berry, goji berry, lutein, lycopene, blueberries and pomegranate.

it tastes like a berry juice -like a less viscous smoothie, with no after taste and only 30 calories. my skin has been phenomenal lately -though i'm not sure it i owe it entirely to this drink - i mostly credit kiehl's midnight recovery concentrate - i'm sure this only adds to the glow.

available at food, drug and mass retailers nationwide.

redken style connection - makes fabric textures into hair products.

redken's style connection products - matte sponge 05 rugged texturizer, velvet gelantine 07 cushioned blow-dry gel, and wool shake 08 gel-slush texturizer - play with the overlap between fashion and beauty. for a few months now there been a lot of buzz about mixing the textures from fashion into hair styles, and this line makes that idea tangible.

all of the products have their own charm, but velvet gelatine 07 cushioned blow-dry gel is my latest go-to, designed for a smooth, airy finish. the only catch? it has kind of a masculine smell - maybe sandalwood ?

each product retails for $17 at salon retailers.
