clairol's perfect 10 at home hair color.

beauties, i am exposing myself quite a bit here. first of all, i'm letting you see this before (above) picture of me (my rule is that i don't style my hair before it gets cut or colored. after seeing this picture, though, i'm quite seriously considering amending that rule). i'm also confessing in this post that i used at home hair color. i haven't used at home color in about a year, but because i love you all i wanted to be able to give clairol's perfect 10 a serious review and i couldn't do that without trying it myself.
my color is a mix of two shades - the light auburn and the dark auburn. jason backe, clairol's celeb colorist, informed me that it is totally fine to mix two shades when you are coloring at home, just like they do in the salon, to get your desired effect (nice tip, huh?). i think it turned out i hoped it would (check the color in the below/after picture).
what i liked about perfect 10 over both other at home color and salon color was that it works in 10 minutes. almost as soon as you finish applying it, it's time to wash it out. i absolutely hate having to sit around with my hair color setting, and usually unwittingly dyeing half the things in bathroom in the process. and on another note, you really can't beat the price difference between at home color and salon color.
see if clairol has your shade here.

So tell us how your hair feels!! The color is perfect--that is the exact color that I am always trying to achieve, but it is also so important that my hair doesn't feel like straw.
hi kelly! that's a great question! my hair feels wonderful. i like the fact that the dye only stays on for 10 minutes - less chance for damage!
your hair looks fabulous! i haven't dyed my hair in a couple of years (it's just not as soft as it used to be) but i may have to give that dye a try! i have been wanting my hair to be a bit darker for the season anyway...
thanks for posting!
Wow! You look gorgeous, babe! Great job :)
Your hair looks fab!!! Thanks for sharing about this. I'm going to try it!
I was just eyeing The Perfect 10 and wondering how it would be. Your hair looks great!
I was just wondering, you said you mixed the colors...how did you do that? did you put them in the same bottle or what?
Hi Brittany - thanks for your question! I mix them in the same bottle with the developer. So rather than taking the full amount of either color I only take half of each tube. i hope that helps!
This color looks so pretty on you!
Would your mixture of light & dark auburn work on dark brown hair?
Or should I just use the light auburn by itself?
Thanks again for this wonderful post!
