clairol's *new* natural instincts.

i'm finally managing to wrap my mind around some the new products i learned about on tuesday.
i was a little non-plussed when i learned that i was going to be spending 2 hours learning about clairol's new natural instinct colors, but after hearing celebrity colorist jason backe speak so humorously and charismatically about the new colors i couldn't think of a better way to have spent those two hours. there are two new lines, gold shimmer and brass free. as jason explained, clairol has take all the mineral and metallic influences in fashion and extended the trend to very natural, but striking hair color. and i'm all for it.

brass free is focused on giving rich, luxurious brown and blond tones, free from any brassiness. it gives a deep, cool-toned base. oh, and no orange -- that's a rule of brass free color. think charlotte york.

which is great, but i love gold shimmer. this line creates browns, reds and blonds that are super warm. gold shimmer is perfect if you want to give your color a little more shine after a rough summer (and who doesn't want to do that?).

both lines are ultra-luxe, filled with vitamin C and E, and very moisturizing -- meaning your hair will actually look better and less damaged after you dye it. perfect pre-fall pick-me up, n'est pas? visit clairol.com for the deets, and your local drugstore for the goods.

I used the brass free blond. I have dark blond hair with brassy undertones so I was curious to see what would happen. The result was that while not changing the color of my hair so much, it changed the tone to a more shiny matte version of what I started with. I like it - very subtle, sophisticated and perfect for fall!
