makeup lesson: dita von teese lite

many beauty bloggers have been noting the glamorous and composed look of burlesque queen and fetish model, dita von teese. today i've done a lighter, but dita-inspired look. here's how i did it:

1. pay extra attention to skin. i put on foundation and loose powder - both covergirl (sometimes cheap makeup works!) and mac studio finish concealer on any spots. i brush the entire apples of my cheeks with nars orgasm blush (i think dita's look uses a pinker blush, but i'm trying achieve a slighted toned-down version of the look).

2. this next step is often overlooked but is very important if you are going for a more dramatic look: be sure to define eyebrows! i used smashbox brow tech wax to set mine in place.

3. for my eyes i choose to fill the entire lid with a violet liner pencil, urban decay's 24/7 glide-on pencil in lust. topped off with black liquid liner, bourjois liquid liner in intense black, to be exact.

4. finally, the lips. i used shiseido's SL7. i find this red to be easier to use than most, i tend make less of a mess with it for some reason.
